Then check whether the computer still uses an old mechanical hard drive instead of an SSD. This is one of the most common causes of “suddenly old” performance. Moving to an SSD often transforms the machine completely.

Sometimes the fix is straightforward: remove junk software, trim startup apps, update Windows properly, and make sure security tools are not conflicting with each other.
