A cracked iPhone screen is almost always worth repairing rather than replacing the phone: a new screen costs from 60 to 350 € depending on the model, against 600 to 1,300 € for a recent iPhone. You only replace the device if the damage goes beyond the screen, if the model is more than six years old, or if the quote tops half the phone's value. Here's how to decide in five minutes.
Cracked glass or a genuinely broken screen?
Two situations need to be told apart. A simple crack in the glass, with a sharp image and touch that responds everywhere, isn't an absolute emergency but is worth handling: micro-cracks let dust and moisture in, and the broken edge eventually cuts your finger. On the other hand, if the image shows lines, black or green patches, or areas that no longer respond to touch, the screen is genuinely dead and must be replaced to keep using the phone.
What an iPhone screen costs in Paris in 2026
The price mostly depends on the model and the type of panel. Here are realistic ranges for 2026:
- Older iPhones (SE, 8, X, 11): 60 to 130 €.
- iPhone 12 to 14: 110 to 220 €.
- iPhone 15 and recent models with a premium OLED panel: 200 to 350 €.
The difference comes from the screen itself: recent OLED panels are expensive, and a quality part makes all the difference to colour accuracy and touch response. A screen replaced properly is usually done in 30 to 60 minutes. For a phone repair in Paris, most screen swaps are done the same day as soon as the part is available.
The framework: repair or replace
Ask yourself three simple questions:
- Does the quote top half the used value of your iPhone? If not, repair it.
- Does the phone have other serious problems (dead battery, faulty charging port, already dropped in water)? If so, replacement is worth discussing.
- Does the model still get iOS updates? Below that, renewal genuinely comes into question.
In the vast majority of cases, an iPhone under five years old with nothing but a cracked screen is worth repairing: 150 € against 900 €, the maths is quick. You repair it, and you keep your data, your apps and your habits.
The false bargains to avoid
Two traps come up again and again. The first: bargain-basement screens sold on a street corner, often LCD panels fitted to OLED models, with washed-out colours, twitchy touch and sometimes the loss of True Tone. The second: ignoring a cracked screen for months until the touch layer gives out completely or moisture reaches the internal components. A cracked screen should be handled quickly and with a good part.
How long it takes and the question of warranty
An iPhone screen replacement is most often done in an hour, sometimes while you wait in a nearby café. The real thing to watch is the quality of the part and the warranty. A good repair restores a faithful screen, responsive touch across the whole surface, automatic brightness and, where the model allows, adaptive True Tone. Insist on a warranty on the part and the fitting: that's the sign of serious work. Be wary of an unusually low price, which almost always hides a poor-quality panel that will disappoint within weeks.
And the battery, while we're at it?
An iPhone with a cracked screen has often clocked up a few years too, which means a tired battery. Taking advantage of the phone being open to change the battery at the same time, when it's below 80% capacity, works out cheaper than two separate jobs. Expect around 45 to 90 € for a battery replacement depending on the model. It's the right moment to leave with a phone that lasts the day again.
Back it up before any work
Before handing over your iPhone, make an iCloud or computer backup if the screen still responds even a little. A screen repair doesn't touch your data, but it's always better to have a recent copy. If the touch layer is already dead and you can't back anything up, bring the phone in anyway: once the screen is replaced, we get access back and your data is intact.
How it works in practice
You tell me the model and the state of the screen, I give you a firm price and a timeframe before starting. Most repairs are done while you wait or within the day, across Paris and the near suburbs. Quality parts, a warranty on the work, and a full test of touch and display before I hand the phone back.
